To deny people their human rights is to challenge their very humanity.” - Nelson Mandela

On the occasion of Human rights assembly our CAS coordinator gave me responsibility of introducing the topic and stating Substantive rights. I planned the activity.
I researched on the topic and then made points to speak.
Human rights are rights inherent to all human beings, whatever our nationality, place of residence, sex, national or ethnic origin, color, religion, language, or any other status. We are all equally entitled to our human rights without discrimination. These rights are all interrelated, interdependent and indivisible.
Universal human rights are often expressed and guaranteed by law, in the forms of treaties, customary international law, general principles and other sources of international law. International human rights law lays down obligations of

Governments to act in certain ways or to refrain from certain acts, in order to promote and protect human rights and fundamental freedoms of individuals or groups.

There are substantive rights:
Ø Right to life
Ø Freedom from torture
Ø Freedom from slavery
Ø Right to a fair trial
Ø Freedom of speech
Ø Freedom of thought, conscience and religion
Ø Freedom of movement
Ø Rights debates
Ø Right to keep and bear arms
Ø Future generations
Ø Sexual orientation and gender identity
Ø Trade
Ø Water
Ø Reproductive rights
Ø Information and communication technologies

It very important for us understand our human rights and help them who are unaware these. These rights are very crucial if you want to fight the crimes going on in the society.  I spent 2 hours in this activity. This activity was related to issue of global importance.
